SUPERFOOD SMOOTHIE: Spirulina & Chlorella for Immune Support & Detoxification
It sounds super fancy and seems too foreign to be able to pronounce. Intimidating, right? (At first.) Complicated? Not so much. SPIRULINA is a nutrient-rich blue-green algae packed with antioxidants (carotenoids), vitamins, minerals, iron and 8 essential amino acids and protein. These tablets by Sunfood Superfoods, are an easy way to get the nutrients you need from Spirulina. These tablets make Spirulina easily digestible with a glass of water, but our favorite way to take Spirulina and Chlorella is to make a green smoothie!
Spirulina Superfood Smoothie:
- 3-4 Spirulina tablets
- 1/2 - 1 Banana
- Handful of Pineapple pieces
- 1.5 tbsp Hemp seeds
- Small handful of Spinach
- 12 oz. Coconut milk or hemp milk
- 1 scoop Protein powder (Optional)
HOW TO MAKE IT:
- In a large blender add bananas, pineapples, spinach, Hemp seeds, coconut milk and spirulina.
- Blend for 20 seconds.
- Add your scoop of protein. Pulse until the protein is evenly distributed in the smoothie.
- Serve immediately.
TIP: For a more creamy consistency and to make this smoothie into a meal, add 1/4 of an avocado. To cut down on sugar, replace bananas and pineapples with a cucumber instead. For less calories, use unsweetened almond milk.
