YOGA AS HEALING RETREAT

@ UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA BERKELEY

April 27-28

Yoga as Healing combines yoga and self-care practices to give participants the tools to connect with emotions, take back control over triggers, and come out of high-anxiety modes using self-regulation techniques. These techniques holistically rebuild self-esteem, tap into resilience, and reframe trauma in a way that allows survivors to take their power back. We learn and practice these techniques in a safe, welcoming, non- judgemental community space.

Sign up through University Health Services or directly with the campus Path to CARE center.

SANSKRIT 101

@ XPLORE YOGA SAN JOSE

April 27

This immersive workshop focuses on the quality of Sanskrit sounds for ease of pronunciation, with special attention to reading diacritical marks and comprehending commonly used āsana names as well as understanding technical Sanskrit terminology such as those of Patañjali’s Yoga Sūtras. We will discuss Sanskrit as it is relevant to the modern yoga practice: mantra, chanting, and meditation. Emphasis is on the Sanskrit alphabet (varṇamālā), places and manner of articulation and Sanskrit's long history. Students will leave feeling confident in their knowledge of the history of yoga and in pronouncing the basic Sanskrit sounds.

This lecture is part of Xplore Yoga’s 200 HR Yoga Teacher Training and is only available to enrolled students.
